Beginning of February Hans was invited to play at Celtic Connections in Glasgow, Scotland. CC is one of the biggest festivals of it's kind in the world and lasts 2 weeks. The festival mainly puts on music from the celtic parts of the world but this year they decided to include a bluesnight for which CC invited Hans, US folk and blues-lady Kristina Olsen and Scottish bluesveteran Tam Whyte. A great night in a venue called "The Arches" which is what they are: arches underneath the railroadtracks. We had a great time in Glasgow - it's a great city with a lot to offer on the cultural side.
We noticed that there are many young people in the city and the place was hopping - especially on Saturdaynight. Hans played in a few other venues as well, including the festival club - the place where all musicians gathered after their shows and where the music didn't stop until 5 in the morning!!
Between lots of celtic power Hans' bluesy sounds were highly appreciated by the crowd. His Sunday night session withEamonn Campbell from the Dubliners - a rock 'n roller at heart - had people standing on their feet and screaming for more.
In Glasgow Hans was presented with a beautiful Torque Acoustic Amp handed over by Bruce Perrin of Barnes & Mullins LTD (UK) . - Hans will endorse Torque for the future.
We heard a lot of good music that weekend; the scottish are very supportive of their musicians and there seemed to be an abundance of wonderful new young talent.
Of course we met some old friends too: The Dubliners did a 40th anniversary show with Ronnie Drew and Jim McCann as special guests. I've heard the Dubs many times but this was a one-off moment and a truely memorable event in the history of the Dubs. Milica
