Hans has just finished the recording of his upcoming and overdue new cd "Songs from the Southland" which should be ready for release March 2003. Most of the recording was done in Austria and some of it in the UK and USA. The recordings are partly solo with just voice and guitar and partly sparsely arranged with the help of some musical friends: Linda Tillery & The Cultural Heritage Choir (backing vocals), Jon Sass (tuba) and Danny Thompson (double bass). Already the title "Songs from the Southland" suggests that the songmaterial on this cd will be roots and blues from the Southern States of the US; the kind of music that has inspired and accompanied Hans throughout his musical career. Hans will be on tour from mid January until the end of February: After the start of the tour at the "Celtic Connection Festival" in Glasgow, Hans will be performing for 2 weeks at a bluesfestival on the caribbean island of Mustique followed by some US-gigs in Nashville und Florida.

The whole month of March Hans will be touring with his new "Hans Theessink Band" in Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Italy. After the tour Hans & band will spend a couple of weeks in Tuscany, Italy to record an album at an old church. This church is owned by friends and on his first visit Hans noticed the great acoustics in the place and the wish to record at this very special spot arose.
