In June I played a few concerts with Arlo Guthrie and his son Abe. A nice experience. We did some songs from the "Banjoman"album that we produced together. In Upper Austria we were invited for a schnapps tasting by Reisetbauer - I`ve included a few pics.
We also did the Tollwood Festival in Munich. The concert was organised by the Nuclear Free Future Award society.
John Sheahan and
Barney McKenna of The Dubliners also took part and I've included a few photos of a session we had on the night before the gig.
End of june I played with Insingizi at a festival in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately the festival rained out but we had nice weather the next day and shot a photo on the town-square where you also can see our friend Walter Kaspar who often drives and helps us out. A few days earlier the HT Band played at the Lent Festival in Slovenia - a phantastic atmosphere. I'm glad that these countries soon will be part of the EU - will save us a lot of time and hassle with bureaucrats trying to get visas for the boys from Zimbabwe. This summer I'd taken some time off for family reasons but I still played a few great open-air- and festival gigs. I usually do these things on my own and don't bring a camera. Fortunately other people do and you can look at some photos that Ridi of the Brücke in Graz took. ![]()
There are also a few shots taken during a trip to the opera spectacle Turandot in Burgenlands' Römersteinbruch that we did with the Rossachers (Hannes Rossacher has some work in progress on a DVD about me - patience please, it will still be quite some time before it'll be finished). Hannes owns a beautiful 60-ies Buick convertible and I took the picture of the sunflowerfield while cruising.
In August we drove to Denmark for the wedding of our daughter Maria - our car was filled with Austrian wine for the party. Since I was up there I played a few gigs too - a.o. a
Bluesfestival in Aalborg. We spent a lot of time on the beach. Maria, Flemming and Emma live right on the danish westcoast - beautiful beaches, sanddunes and the ever impressive Atlantic. The wedding was great and we took some pictures. As a stage-person I hadn't thought that I could get so excited, but it was a very emotional thing to lead ones daughter up the church isle. Of course it was also great to see Emma again. She was 2 in June and talks a lot (danish).Beginning of september Milica had The Dubliners on tour. They played seven sold out shows "7 Drunken Nights" in Metropol in Vienna. This was their 30th tour of Austria
and the Dubs were honored by the city - Vice-mayor Grete Laska gave them the silver "Rathausmann".
While the Dubliners were in Vienna, I played the Jazzland und and a few Dubs joined me for a session. There are no photos but I found one from a similar occasion a few years ago.I have a very tight gigging schedule for the next few months. Between March and now I've driven 30.000 km and I'm sure there'll be plenty more by the end of the year. It's still great to play music though and I couldn't imagine a life without guitars. Hopefully we'll see you somewhere along the road. All the best,
